Beware of buyers who offer to pay more than the selling price for your item, then requests that your
return the difference to them. These are Nigerian scammers operating out of Africa or the United Kingdom.
They will try to mail you a Cashier’s Check or Postal Money Order. These are bogus, even if your bank
initially accepts them. They will not clear, and you will be held responsible.
Basic Precautions:
- Buy and sell locally.
- Do not take cashier’s checks or postal money orders.
- Do not send wire transfer payments to anyone resulting from your ad.
- Never give out personal financial information such as your bank, credit card numbers,
Social Security numbers, etc.
